Rio de Janeiro
A small slice of paradise sitting beneath the welcoming arms of the iconic Christ the Redeemer, Rio de Janeiro is a party capital famed for its festive street parades and golden beaches. Nicknamed "the Marvellous City", Rio is the country's vibrant culture hub, boasting an incredible skyline and sweeping views thanks to its idyllic location between the mountains and the sea.
The city regularly comes alive with the infectious and rhythmic beat of Brazilian samba, its streets seemingly always filled with street parties and celebrations. The ever-popular annual Carnival is the most popular event on the Brazilian calendar: it draws together all its citizens (Cariocas), from the very rich to the very poor, who to take to the streets for the world's largest samba parade.
Its beaches are its biggest asset though, particularly the famous Ipanema and Copacabana, drawing a constant stream of visitors making the most of the city's exquisite climate. The city also contains Tijuca Forest, the biggest urban forest in the world, which complements the wooded mountains that surround the metropolis.
The 150 districts of Rio are all unique, with the most intriguing, Santa Teresa, a winding maze of streets populated by artists and musicians, which is reached by taking an old tram across an ancient aqueduct called Arcos da Lapa.
In the heart of Rio, history buffs will love the multitude of historic monuments and public buildings such as the Municipal Theatre, the National Museum of Fine Art, the Itamaraty Palace, the National History Museum and the National Library. There are also beautiful examples of religious architecture, such as the Sao Bento Monastery. No matter how long you spend exploring the city, it always seems to keep serving up new surprises.
To the north of the city is the Lakes region, which has more than 62 miles (100km) of beaches and salt-water lagoons, and is the site of the main tourist resorts of Búzios, Cabo Frio, Arraial do Cabo, Rio das Ostras, Marica and Saquarema. Many other stunning natural areas and man-made attractions in Brazil are easily reached from Rio, which makes a fabulous travel base.

Salvador da Bahia
Salvador is Bahia state's buzzing capital city, its pulsating vibrancy staying with visitors long after they leave the golden shores.
Founded in 1549, Salvador quickly became Brazil's premier city, and the Portuguese Empire's second most important, after Lisbon. Prospering during the 17th and 18th centuries as Brazil's major port, it handled a significant portion of the country's gold, sugar and diamonds.
Today, the city's impressive colonial architecture is evidence of its rich history. Well-restored enclaves of the old city and ornate Baroque churches remain amid modern tower blocks and colourful mansions, all of it connected by quaint cobblestone streets. The São Francisco Church and Convent, a high-baroque cathedral located in downtown Salvador, has to be seen to be believed. Funded by the area's sugar barons and built between 1708 and 1723, the cathedral's interior is literally plastered with gold, while precious stones and paintings reminiscent of the Sistine Chapel adorn the ceiling. Most churches are open to the public and many have been turned into museums.
This delightfully decadent city's spicy atmosphere is best soaked up on foot within its narrow streets and markets, the Mercado Modelo probably being Salvador's finest in this regard. One of the city's more unusual experiences is to ride the Elevador Lacerda: the Art Deco structure houses old electric elevators that carry passengers between the port and the old historic part of town.
Salvador's beaches present visitors with an enviable list of options. The range extends from calm coves ideal for swimming, sailing and fishing, such as Porto da Barra beach, to wild coasts facing the Atlantic Ocean. Aleluia Beach falls into the latter category and attracts many surfers. Some beaches are surrounded by coral reefs, forming natural swimming pools ideal for children, while others host many of Salvador's great festivals, including the performances and fireworks of the New Year festivities.
Salvador is Brazil's most Africanised state, owing to the thousands of slaves who were transported to the region's sugarcane plantations 400 years ago. The Museu Afro-Brasileira is dedicated to this history and culture. The fusion of African and Latin cultures has given Salvador a unique brand of magic that is particularly evident at the city's many festivals, most notably the massive Carnival in mid-November. It attracts two million revellers from all over the world and is said to rival the famous Rio Carnival.

Recife
One of the main highlights of Recife is its stunning coastline, which is lined with numerous sandy beaches. From the picturesque Boa Viagem beach, with its crystal-clear waters and palm-fringed boardwalk, to the tranquil Porto de Galinhas beach, famous for its natural pools and marine life, there are plenty of options for beach lovers to relax and soak up the sun. Surfers can also catch some great waves at beaches like Itamaracá and Maracaípe.
In addition to its natural beauty, Recife is renowned for its rich history and architectural heritage. The historic city center, known as Recife Antigo, is a must-visit area that showcases the city's colonial past. The area is filled with beautifully preserved 17th-century buildings, colorful Dutch tiles, and picturesque squares. Here, visitors can explore attractions such as the Kahal Zur Israel Synagogue, the first synagogue in the Americas, and the Malakoff Tower, which offers panoramic views of the city.
For art enthusiasts, Recife offers a thriving cultural scene. The city is home to numerous art galleries, museums, and performance spaces. The Instituto Ricardo Brennand is a must-visit, housing an impressive collection of European art, artifacts, and weapons. The Cais do Sertão Museum, dedicated to the history and culture of the Northeast region, is another popular attraction.
Food lovers will also be delighted by the culinary offerings of Recife. The city is known for its diverse and flavorful cuisine, influenced by African, Portuguese, and Indigenous traditions. Visitors can sample regional dishes such as acarajé, a deep-fried ball of black-eyed pea dough filled with shrimp, and tapioca, a popular snack made from cassava flour. The Mercado de São José, one of the oldest markets in the city, is a great place to sample local delicacies and purchase souvenirs.
Aside from its historical sites and culinary delights, Recife also offers a vibrant nightlife. The city comes alive after dark, with numerous bars, clubs, and theaters hosting live music performances and dance parties. The neighborhood of Recife Antigo is particularly lively, with its streets filled with music, dance, and street artists.
For those seeking outdoor activities, Recife boasts several parks and green spaces. The Parque Dona Lindu, with its modern architecture and ocean views, is a popular spot for leisurely strolls or picnics. The Jaqueira Park is another beautiful park, offering walking trails, a playground, and a variety of flora and fauna.
Getting around Recife is relatively easy, with a well-connected public transportation system. Buses and taxis are readily available, and the city is also bike-friendly, with bike lanes and bike-sharing services.
Overall, Recife offers a unique and vibrant experience for travelers. From its beautiful beaches and historical sites to its lively culture and delicious cuisine, there is something for everyone in this captivating Brazilian city.

Casablanca
Just looking at the city, there's no need to guess where the port-city of Casablanca, meaning 'white house' in Spanish, got its name. Made famous by the classic film, starring Humphrey Bogart, this cosmopolitan, white-walled city is Morocco's largest and most modern. Casablanca is not oriented towards tourists as much as Morocco's other large cities, but under the hustle and bustle lies a unique and charismatic history waiting to be discovered.
Founded by Berber fisherman over two thousand years ago, Casablanca was used by both the Phoenicians and the Romans as a port. The Portuguese then took over but after destroying the city and rebuilding it, they abandoned it in the aftermath of an earthquake. The city went on to be rebuilt as Daru l-Badya (Arabic for Casablanca) by a Moroccan sultan, and was then given the name Casablanca by the Spanish traders who used the port, and it retains this function today as one of Africa's largest and most important ports.
As a centre for trade and, consequently, the mixing of cultures, Casablanca is unlike any other Moroccan city. Many women ditch the conservative clothing and dress themselves in the latest designer outfits. The infrastructure is modern and the city sophisticated. Casablanca is where Morocco's youth move to make something of their lives and is the centre for international trade and big business. For a glimpse of its history, downtown is the perfect place to admire the blend of French colonial architecture and traditional Moroccan design.

Tangier
For decades, between 1920 and the late 1950s, Tangier was a playground for the rich and famous as well as artists and adventurers from all walks of life. Tangier attracted those seeking a tax haven or a mystic destination, from authors and artists, to spies and aristocrats. Regular visitors included the likes of Truman Capote, Tennessee Williams, and Woolworth heiress, Barbara Hutton.
When Spain relinquished Tangier back to Morocco in 1960, its duty-free status went with it, and the city lost a great deal of its flair. However, tourism is on the up once more, with visitors succumbing to the city's proximity to Europe and discovering that its decayed grandeur still has much to offer, from its palm-lined promenade and sandy beach, to the old town and its outlying villages and resorts. Despite its fall from glory, a stylish cafe society has once again begun to build up in modern day Tangier's boulevards, and the merchants in the medina (old quarter) are doing good trade with tourists exploring its maze of narrow streets, all of which are within sight of the Spanish coast across the straits of Gibraltar.

Castellón de la Plana

Barcelona
The enchanting city of Barcelona is a visual delight, and has an atmosphere that combines elegance and sophistication with provincial charm. In exploring its streets you'll discover medieval romance in its Gothic quarter and the awe-inspiring delights of the fantastic and sometimes outrageous Art Nouveau architecture of Gaudi and his contemporaries.
The funicular up to Tibidabo, or the cable car up Montjuic, both offer breathtaking views over this attractive city. Its skyline is perhaps most famous for Antoni Gaudi's masterwork, the still incomplete church of the Sagrada Familia, as well as the city's huge Gothic cathedral. The artistic legacy of Barcelona is one of the city's most appealing attributes, with museums containing extensive collections of the works of Miro and Picasso. Barcelona is also a shopper's paradise, with the city's flair for style reflected in its numerous boutiques and markets, open late into the evenings. As the sun sets, and the city's many bars and restaurants open, the night truly comes alive. Dinner is served at any time between nine o'clock and midnight, and the festivities around the bars and nightclubs carry on well into the early hours of the morning.
Barcelona is the commercial centre of the popular holiday region known as the Costa Brava, the northernmost Mediterranean seafront in Spain, as well as the Costa Dorada to the south. The coast is dotted with popular resort towns, many retaining their age-old charm, which can be easily reached from the city.

Unlike traditional shore excursions, the expedition team is placed aboard select sailings to offer knowledge, commentary, education on the destinations, and to lead hikes, Zodiac cruises, and kayaking in remote areas. It allows Seabourn guests to experience expedition-style encounters with the landscapes, but do it on the traditional Seabourn ships that our guests know and love.

Seabourn Expedition Submarines
Discover the Wonders that Wait Under the Waterline in Seabourn’s Luxurious New Expedition Submarines
Consider it the ultimate luxury perk on the ultimate luxury expedition ships: a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to witness the wonders of the ocean floor in the comfort of Seabourn’s custom submarines.
The deeper you explore beneath the ocean’s surface, the more unique the scenery becomes, and the more secrets the sea reveals, from incredible sunken shipwrecks to stunning coral reefs to unique marine wildlife normally hidden from human view.
The only way to experience this otherworldly realm is by submarine, and at Seabourn our exacting standards for comfort and luxury mean these undersea explorations take place in custom-built submarines crafted to be the best at the sea.
Each environmentally friendly, battery-powered sub carries just seven people — six guests, three each in two clear acrylic spheres — plus the highly trained pilot guiding the journey. The intimate and innovative new exploration vehicles are capable of diving to depths of 300 meters (984 feet) offering passengers an awe-inspiring perspective of the marine world just outside. Thanks to undisturbed and undistorted views in virtually all directions you’ll come face-to-face with the wonders that lie below the waterline.
Not only will passengers be kept dry and comfortable while the submarine dives under the sea, in keeping with the ultra-luxury experience found on Seabourn, subs are outfitted with custom-embroidered leather upholstery, a Bluetooth stereo system, air conditioning, and champagne chiller so you can toast your extraordinary journey.

To memorialize your time under the sea, the subs are outfitted with a high-tech, 4K underwater video camera system that will capture your underwater experience. The videos will be screened in the Discovery Center for workshops and conversations with guests that are led by marine biologist or oceanographer Expeditions leaders.
This is truly the adventure of a lifetime. Experience it for yourself when Seabourn Venture and Seabourn Pursuit set sail for breathtaking locations and remote destinations in the Arctic and Antarctica, as well as in the Caribbean, Central and South America.
Seabourn Venture and Seabourn Pursuit's submarines are a high-profile amenity of its expedition capabilities. Itineraries where submarines may be deployed are indicated by an icon, however their use is limited by conditions of currents and visibility, cannot be guaranteed, and are at the Captain’s discretion.

Expedition Lounge
The Expedition Lounge, located on Deck 4, is the heart of the ship. A gathering place for the curious, guests are invited to relax or linger with a complimentary cocktail or glass of fine wine from the bar as they share photos and stories from the day with their fellow travelers and the onboard staff. The Expedition Lounge will be central to the Seabourn expedition operation where guests convene before and after expeditions each day.
Custom furniture designed in a variety of warm, natural materials creates an inviting, tactile atmosphere. An ode to the adventurous, the Expedition Lounge features an etched glass partition displaying a vintage map of Antarctica and vitrines showcasing intricate tools and devices of the trade. Two large touchscreens will also display a wealth of information including photos, navigational charts, weather charts, and maps.
The Club
The liveliest lounge on board is the scene of daily afternoon tea service. It is a popular spot for pre-dinner drinks and dancing to live music. After dinner, the dancing music continues, and later a DJ spins dance music until late at night. Another terrace of open deck aft of The Club boasts a plunge pool and two small whirlpool spas.

Bow Lounge
Located on Deck 6, at the forward-most part of the vessel, the Bow Lounge provides the closest access to water level via the foredeck, making it the perfect spot for guests to spend some time watching for marine life. Within a few steps, guests can be outside, with a vantage point that is ideal to watch the ship’s course, spot wildlife, or take in the beautiful natural scenery.
The Bow Lounge introduces some technological enhancements, providing guests with a first for Seabourn with touch screens showing the ship’s plotted location, as well as navigational charts and scientific information used to help guide the ship on its journey. Large screens project live footage from mounted cameras outside the ship, and from a drone when conditions permit, while the touch screen monitors invite guests to explore on their own with a live map, weather information, and notes detailing upcoming expeditions. Expedition Team members will be available within the Lounge throughout the day to interact with guests, answer questions, provide interpretation and aid in spotting wildlife.
The space provides direct access to the Bow Sprit on Deck 6 forward (when conditions permit) to give guests the sensation of standing in front of the ship and views of waves parting and ice sloughing off the bow at the waterline.
